` You may recall there was a time that I reported the mildew on the bathroom ceiling had finally overcome the nicotine stains from the former tenants. In fact, I was all wrong about that.
` I realized this when I looked up one morning to find this outside the bathroom door!
` Apparently, the yellowish stuff is wallpaper glue, from the painted-over wallpaper stuck to the ceiling. When the ceiling gets wet, the glue finds a way to seep through and drip on the floor, thus making lovely little yellow dots everywhere!
` And, because there is no ventilation in this dump, well, the steam from the shower drifts upward from the doorway, setting off the smoke alarm every time! However, I have not yet determined whether or not the glue actually inhibits the mildew.
` I will keep you updated on this most riveting situation!

Well aty least you know what it is!!?!
` Yes, finally, tis a mystery no longer!
Well, I hope for your sake that its what you think it may be. I've never seen any wallpaper paste with color like that, its usually clear. I think that much of the color comes from the iron in pipes and nails used to construct the place. I'm inclined to believe that the upstairs is either leaking, or because of temperature and humidity, is condensing enough water to rust the iron and drip down to the ceiling. Or it could just be leaking urine and other "material." Mildew is usually kind of fuzzy looking due to the way it grows.
` Charles, if it ain't forty-year-old wallpaper paste, I don't know what it is. This yellow stuff oozes out of the walls and ceiling anywhere they get damp.
` And for the record, it couldn't be from the attic upstairs because... well, it's an attic. The only thing that happens up there is meth-heads lighting up.
That sounds plausible.
` If only there was a way to test my hypothesis without ruining this building any further....
Hi, I saw your comment on my blog and wanted to come over and check your space out.
Pretty cool over here!
I will be back, until then have a wonderful day!
` Another victim - I mean, subject! Mua ha ha ha ha!
[…]The gap is presently closing at a rate of about 1/2% per year, so in 40 years or so, if the trend continues, it will finally equal out.[…]
` Interesting hypothesis, Battery, although I've since moved out and so I have no clue as to what it's doing now.
